Codex Adeptus Mechanicus

ad mech codexThe Codex is finally here, so if you’ve been waiting to get these guys on the field, get ready! While they are only getting one new mini with the release, it’s always fun to get a new book.

Adeptus Mechanicus Stratagems

admech stratagemsThe Dunestriders for 1CP is pretty nice if you really need to reposition your Ironstriders but don’t want to suffer the penalty. For 1CP the Dataspike is also interesting to dish out some mortal wounds.

Lastly, the Zealous Congregation can get you some automatic wounds, and with 2 Damage each, you can really put the hurt on.

ad mech stratagemsWhile it’s not the most useful all the time, the Machine Spirit’s Revenge is always fun! When you run a vehicle up into the enemy and boom! Tons of mortals all around.

The Deeply Sunk Talons is also really fun and if you need to tie up a unit, it’s perfect. Then they have two stratagems to take your units off the table and redeploy them which is pretty sweet.

admech stratagems 2The Chain-Taser Protocol isn’t quite as good as before, because it was on a 4+, but still nice they keep it in there. Being able to shoot at a unit coming in 12″ is also really helpful, as it will make it harder for deep striking units to come on and get off a devastating charge.

Canticles

Canticles 2The Benediction of the Omnissiah is really still strong, with a single reroll to every phase of the shooting roll. But you can only select one per game, so be sure to use that when you really want to dish out the serious pain, we see turn two being the usual candidate. Having a save against Mortals is also pretty sweet and everything in your army (more or less) getting light cover isn’t shabby either. They all definitely have their uses, just be sure to activate them when most needed!

Warlord Traits

Admech Warlord traitsBeing able to deepstrike a unit is always nice, while a lot of the other traits focus more on combat, so they gave them a lot more for combat this time around in almost every aspect.

Skitarii warlord traitsThere are some interesting ones here, namely being able to shoot and perform actions. Meaning you don’t have to include units that will basically sit still and do nothing. On top of that, being able to move your heavy weapons and not get the minus one is a pretty nice little buff.

forgeworld traitsAll the Forgeworld traits have two parts, and once you change to the advanced you can’t go back, so make the switch wisely. All of them have some interesting mechanics, but will really make the overall use of your characters more important.
