Don’t miss our unboxing and build of the 40k Plastic Space Marines Thunderhawk, and if you need to magnetize it…
We’re back unboxing what is finally a new plastic Thunderhawk, but we guess it’s not quite the full-scale plastic kit everyone wants… Rob sees what it takes to get it ready for the tabletop, shows the size of the model, and tells you the GOTCHAS to be aware of when building it!
We are going to show you everything including the sprues, bits, and of course, the size. That way you can decide if this is worth your hard-earned hobby dollars.

Everyone might want a full plastic kit, so people can actually consider playing it on the tabletop, but this Aeronautica Plastic Thunderhawk model is still a good opportunity to do some iconic hobbying.
Instructions & Sprues
This kit is pretty standard, and the instructions reflect that. In the end, it still took Rob about an hour and a half thanks to all those tiny bits and detail packed into the model.
Due to the size, there isn’t really much room to magnetize anything, but if you were to, the landing gear would make the most sense. Rob ended up just using some poster-tac to keep it easy and simple, magnetizing such small bits can be a real challenge.
The sprues look super detailed, as with most of the Aeronautica/Titanicus scale minis we have come to expect.
Overall, the pieces look good and there is already a ton of detail to paint, so if you end up taking your time, you could make it really stand out!
Assembled Model
The kit itself is pretty sweet and everything is really tight. The stand even dry fits really nice meaning you can easily swap it on and off when you are playing or displaying it.
The tail fin is a little finicky because the connection point is so small and Rob lost his during the video. Just be careful not to lose yours- glue it down well!
Overall, this is just an awesome build that is better than expected and looks great.
