Top Homebrew 40k Army List of The Week From Midtcon GT

40k-homebrew-army-listsAnother off-meta Warhammer 9th Edition 40k army list emerged in the Midtcon GT, check this one out!

9th Edition’s meta is again in flux, but some players are taking lists with units that nobody was expecting. Check out this awesome homebrew list that emerged in a tournament over the weekend. This just goes to show us that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.

Top Homebrew 40k Army List: Midtcon GT

Thanks to Best Coast Pairings we are able to look back at the event as if we were there ourselves.

If you wanted to see the names and factions of the overall winners, we’ve included that below.

Midtcon GT: Nikolaj Jensen – Astra Militarum 13th Place

Nikolaj Jensen 1

Nikolaj placed fairly well in Midtcon with a mixed Imperial Guard list. 3/4 of the list is Imperial Guard and the other 1/4 is a splash of Space Wolves.

Starting off with a Battalion of Guard, led by 2 Tank Commanders and Knight Commander Pask. The Tank Commanders are great because they offer an extra Russ Tank for its durability and weapons. Pask on the other hand is the same methodology but is slightly more expensive.

Troops see 5 Infantry squads for some extra bodies and a single squad of Scions for some slightly more elite options. Elites bring in a Command Squad with melta guna for some extra AP. There are also 2 Platoon Commanders, which are just some very cheap bodies. The last Elite is a Special Weapons Squad running flamers for some chaff clearing.

Heavy Support rounds out the battalion with two Manticores for some long-range damage dealers.

The second detachment is a Space Wolves Vanguard. The HQ is Bjorn, who is a powerhouse character who is mainly here as a melee threat.

Elites then bring in a Murderfang, which has decent ranged weapons and a fantastic melee profile on a mobile body. There are also Company Veterans with 2 shields and claws, making for some very durable melee threats. Finally, there is a Judiciar which is the final melee threat and excels at hunting down minor characters.
