Currently, Warhammer 40k is on top of the heap as far as non-collectible miniatures go; however, two somewhat surprising games have taken the #2 and #3 spots.
RPG Miniature Games Become Hobbyists’ Favorite
ICv2 hosts these top product polls twice a year, where shop owners enter what their most popular sales were over a certain amount of time. This time, it shows how close other games are to 40k.
The last time we saw the poll, both MCP and Legion were flying high and took two of the spots. While Legion has basically been at the top for a while, with all the releases, we expected MCP to stick around; however, they were overtaken.
It’s also worth mentioning that not too long ago, X-Wing miniatures stole the top spot from Warhammer 40k for many years during the 6th & 7th edition era. It is not unheard of for a game system to topple the mighty 40k, but not this time around.Â

This also comes from the vast popular IP they have to draw from and tons of fun games and campaigns in which you can use the minis. However, they have always been near the top, so nothing too crazy there.

They surpassed AoS and pushed them down to the #4 spot.

Especially with the current explosion of Star Wars fandom, it is just an easy game for players who are tired of 40k to move over to.

We’ll have to see if Horus Heresy can top or even make it onto the list in the fall, but for now, AMG has one game in the top 5, and obviously, RPGs are rising.Â
Could you see RPG games take the top spot soon?
