Colonization of the Galactic Core & Leagues of Votann Origins

Leagues-of-votann-lore-background-storiesThey may be considered myths to the Leagues of Votann, but the Squats’ lore is intrinsically tied to the colonization of the Galatic Core!

Obviously, they had to come from somewhere, and all signs point to pre-imperial Terra, but one thing is for certain: all their lives are tied to the mining of the Galactic Core and the Ancestor Cores! See where they originally came from.

Colonization of the Galactic Core & Leagues Origins

Leagues of Votann lore 3In the distant past, humans discovered huge and almost unlimited mineral deposits when they first explored the planets around the galactic center. These materials included compounds that were melted in the furnaces and other strange substances. These materials were discovered because the resources of Earth were exhausted. Therefore, exploration and exploitation were essential for humanity’s survival.

The newfound wealth in the core was quickly tapped by hundreds of thousands of engineers, miners, and explorers who flew specially adapted spacecraft to explore it. It soon became one of the most populated areas of the galaxy. They are considered unlikely locations for human colonization due to their inhospitable physical properties. These worlds were first colonized by hardy frontiersmen. These explorers and miners dreamed of achieving great riches and returning to Earth.

What Sets Leagues of Votann Apart From Other Factions in the Warhammer 40k Universe?

Leagues of Votann are distinct due to several factors:

  • Cultural Diversity: The Leagues are home to a wide range of human and xenos cultures, each with its own beliefs, practices, and technologies.
  • Resource Wealth: This sector is known for valuable resources, drawing the attention of various factions, including the Imperium, Xenos races, and Chaos forces.
  • Strategic Significance: Votann occupies a strategic position within the galaxy, making it a crucial battleground and a nexus for power struggles.

Leagues of Votann Colonies

Leagues of Votann loreColonists settled down and built self-contained communities. They dug and drilled underground homes in the rock surface of their new worlds and connected up the mines’ tunnels with load chambers. It was impossible to rely on large cargo ships for food, as it would be difficult to feed an increasing population.

In order to cultivate nutritious algae, an artificially lit hydroponic tank had to be constructed in deep space. These algae were then dried, processed, and used as a base material for many types of food, including flour, coarse synthetic food, and crude but potent ale.

Who are the Leagues of Votann First Ancestors?

Leagues of Votann lore 2Regardless if it is true, the Squats have come to accept that their ancient histories are now myths. Although the Squats may no longer be able to remember their earliest days, they still have certain articles from the species’ past that they consider indisputable. These principles are called the First Truths.

One is that the First Ancestors left their original Homeworld, which was almost certainly pre-Imperial Terra, millennia ago to seek the galactic core. This was accomplished on large fleets of Generation Ships. Another First Truth is that the First Ancestors were miners, prospectors, and void-dredgers who were charged with extracting the riches of the heavens.

The First Ancestors reached the galactic core. However, the Squats are not sure what happened to them. Their records from this period include the last mentions of the First Ancestors and the earliest mentions of Ancestor Cores. However, it is the First Truth that the First Ancestors created Squats using Cloneskeins.

Although their Votann Ancestor Core might contain the truth, this ancient history is unlikely to be recovered.
