Death Riders of Krieg
First, we have Death Riders, now in plastic for the very first time. Yes, you heard that right—no more finicky resin horses! These revamped models bring brutal claws, sleek lascarbines, and enough grim determination to send chills down your opponent’s spine. Whether you’re charging into battle or just admiring them on your shelf, these riders scream Krieg.
Artillery Team
Next up is the artillery team, a centerpiece that doubles as a tactical powerhouse and a statement piece. These aren’t just models; they’re monuments to the big-gun philosophy of the Astra Militarum. Whether you kit them out with siege cannons, rocket launchers, or heavy mortars, they’re sure to rain destruction on anything unlucky enough to face them.
Combat Engineers
For up-close chaos, the box includes combat engineers. These aren’t your typical grunts—these are the rough-and-tumble types who storm trenches, set mines, and look incredibly stylish while doing it. Flamers? Check. Shotguns? Check. The ability to infiltrate and disrupt enemy plans?
Absolutely. They’re a must-have for anyone who enjoys playing aggressively or just loves the idea of clearing enemy lines with a smile (hidden behind a gas mask, of course). Plus, who doesn’t love an augur-propelled remote mine?
Lord Marshall Varnan Drier
And we can’t forget Lord Marshall Varnan Drier himself. This guy is the very definition of leading from the front, riding into battle on his steed like a boss. With his Sabre of Sacrifice and the ability to cheat death, he’s the kind of hero who’ll make your opponent think twice about underestimating Krieg.
New Codex
To top it off, this set premieres the Codex: Astra Militarum, a 168-page masterpiece packed with lore and rules to crush your enemies in Warhammer 40,000. Throw in a deck of 68 tactical cards and a transfer sheet with 803 decals, and you’ve got everything you need to march into battle with style.
New Death Korps of Krieg Models Not in the Combat Patrol
Command Squad: This command squad’s got it all—battle-hardened vets, a fresh-faced Commissar, an epic banner, and even a servo-skull to keep things in check when the action heats up. Pretty much everything you need to run the show in style!
Heavy Weapons Squad
Heading into the Grim Dark without heavy weapons? Yeah, good luck with that. This squad packs a serious punch with loads of options (including a heavy flamer, because why not?), but here’s the catch—it won’t be in the army box. Looks like you’ll have to snag it separately down the line.
New Astra Militarum Combat Patrol
Draeden’s Lance is packed with 20 miniatures into a strike force that’s all about blitzing across the battlefield and shredding anything unlucky enough to stand in their way. If your enemies thought they could hold the line, they’re about to be proven very, very wrong.
The release date of the new 2025 Astra Militarum Combat Patrol is currently unknown. Still, we think it will most likely have a retail price of $168 like the ones released before it (see below for local currency conversions.) Here is a contents list of what comes in the new Warhammer 40k Astra Militarum Combat Patrol box:
- 1x Command Squad
- 10x Attilan Rough Riders
- 10 Kasrkin

How are the Knockoff Death Korps of Krieg Models?
The knockoff Death Korps of Krieg models? Honestly, not too shabby! The quality is pretty solid for the most part—crisp details, decent casts, and they paint up nicely. But here’s the catch—they’re a bit on the smaller side compared to the new official plastic kits.
So, if you’re mixing them in with the newer GW stuff, they might look like they missed a few meals. That said, if you’re building a full army of them or just looking for some budget-friendly reinforcements, they do the job just fine!
The Might of the Imperium Expands With Death Korps of Krieg in 2025
Revealed at Nova Open 2024, the Death Korps of Krieg will be getting a “Full Release” in 2025 starting off the new year. For fans, this update means you’ll finally get to field a fully plastic army that looks as gritty as their lore suggests.
The Death Korps aren’t just any regiment—they’re the ones who make trench warfare look like a leisurely stroll through the park. Expect lots of mud, masks, and melancholic reflections on the futility of existence, all backed up by an impressive array of artillery that would make even the most hardened Ork Warboss think twice.
This is the Astra Militarum at its most stoic, ready to prove once again that quantity is a quality all its own. If this roadmap isn’t enough to satiate your Warhammer needs, be sure to check out our “living roadmap” with all the unreleased Warhammer 40k miniatures and rumors so far!
How To Paint Death Korps of Krieg Models
We painted up some of the resin Death Korps of Krieg Death Riders not too long ago (you can check out the tutorial here), and they have always been awesome minis. He also has a great tutorial on how to paint infantry and get those greatcoats ready to hit the table!
Final Thoughts On The New Models
We hope that with the new DKoK coming in plastic, they could be a little cheaper and perhaps even more detailed than their nearly 20-year-old Forge World Designs! Either way, it looks like the Death Korps of Krieg hype train is running full steam ahead, with a plastic army on the books for 2025.
