Jack of Clubs Painting is a regular here and normally shows us how to paint our favorite models. This time though, he’s giving us some advice on weathering and paint chipping.
Easy Armor Chipping For Weathering Your Miniatures
After you got the base armor and metallics to a decent level, you can start off with a sponge chipping method.
To do this take the brightest color you used on the panels and grab a small sponge and just dab the color all over to imitate some small scratches. try to be subtle at first! It is always easier to add paint than to clean up or remove it later.
After that take a brush and using the same color try to connect the sponge marks to the edges to create a nice weathering effect. Be careful again not to go too crazy. Next, he uses some Pro Acryl Dark Warm Grey as just the innermost bare metal on the edges where the paint is chipped most.
Now use some AK Interactive Rust Streaks for some easy rust effects. Apply that over the grey areas, followed by an overpass with odorless thinner to blend it all out.
