Thunderwolf Cavalry of Khorne- Bloodcrusher Conversion Part II

Okay so were back with part two of my Thunderwolf Cavalry of Khorne conversion. So now I had a great foundation to work from, and just need to add some arms and a head.  I knew I wanted the model to be dynamic- either holding his weapon over his head, or swinging it to attack.  Plus for the first model I wanted him armed with a Thunder Hammer / Storm Shield, (Saga of the Bear anyone?) so I had a little bit more converting to do.

I grabbed another bit from the Chaos Knight box, a mace hand weapon arm.  It looked like it would work for the pose I wanted, so I added the Hammer to the business end.  Then I tricked it out a bit to fit the feel of the model, and moved on the Storm Shield.

For the Storm Shield I used just a normal Chaos Knight shield for the base, and added a few bits to it.    I had bought some pewter cast guitar wire from somewhere, and used that to simulate power feeds for the shield. Bending that instead of the normal guitar wire is waaaaaay easier.  To finish the arm off I added the chain as a rein for the mount.  I dry fitted the chain at first with the pin, just to get the pose right. I get a lot of people ask me where I get chain from but it’s super easy to find- it’s just a cheap $1 craft item from Wal Mart.

My first attempt at the overall model was not too bad, but I really wanted a little bit more out of it.  It seemed kinda static, and with the charging pose of the Juggernaut I needed to do better.

The head had to go, and the Thunder Hammer I think needed more feeling to it.  I tinkered a bit and finally got the pose I wanted. All that was left was to add the Berserker head, and a snazzy backpack to him.

So that’s it. Now I just gotta make a few more for my Chaos Wolves! -MBG
