Fantasy Flight Games has another preview that will help you get an idea of how to define the battlefield in Star Wars: Legion!
In this latest preview from Fantasy Flight Games for Star Wars: Legion, how you set up your battlefield is one the just beginning to a great game. Legion can be played on a flat, open surface that is 6’x6′. As for terrain, the core set will come with eight barricades to help you get started. The sky’s the limit and you can use whatever terrain pieces you want to fully customize your games. The final step to defining your battlefield experience is the battlefield cards that are chosen.
Objective cards will lay out how you and your opponent will win the game by earning victory tokens. Deployment cards will display how you can deploy your forces before the game begins. You may encounter such deployment types as Disarray, which will have you spread out around the field. Another could be the Long March where you will have the entire length of the battlefield ahead of you. Lastly, there are Condition cards which will have you fighting under clear conditions. Or, perhaps, in Hostile Conditions which will force your troops to stay close to terrain or lose the ability to remove suppression tokens.
Choosing what objective, deployment, and condition can be a mini-game in itself. 3 random cards from each category are dealt face up. You and your opponent alternate selecting a category and eliminating the leftmost card in it. Once this has been done twice by each player, the leftmost card from each category is chosen and that is what you will use to determine your Objective, Deployment, and condition types.
