Games Workshop revealed how Space Marines get ready for battle in this new Armoring video that shows one suiting up with the help of some friends.
Between this and the recent trailers we’ve seen for Space Marine II, (we’ll check that out here too) the lore of the Space Marines is really grabbing a visual update! It’s just really cool to see how much goes into a single Space Marine getting ready for war, and shows just how hard the poor serfs have it!
Warhammer Community unveiled the new video along with a lot of background on the process as well! Let’s check it out!
The Armoring of a Space Marine: Full Video Reveal
The act of preparing and donning that power armour is an important rite in Warhammer 40,000 lore. We’ve read about it in Black Library fiction and seen it in Warhammer artwork, and now we can witness it in all its gothic glory. Watch this.
While the artwork is always amazing to look at, sometimes watching the whole process just really brings home the point!
The video was made in close collaboration with the Warhammer Studio, from lore experts to miniatures designers. It firmly counts as canon – be under no illusion, this is how the Emperor’s finest get ready for battle.
Well, it’s always good to know something is canon, but if GW makes it, you can pretty much guess it will be!
Those bolts and details you see on each panel? They have a purpose, fastening the ceramite outer layer to a complex undersuit that binds the power armour to the Space Marine’s will. The whole suit enhances his movements and allows him to fight in almost any environment, even the vacuum of space.
They did a really good job on this one because every scene is just super cool and full of that Grimdark feel we all love!
The Cherubs are really freaky and might give you nightmares if you saw one in real life.

Fully kitted up and ready for battle!
It reminds us how rare the Space Marines are. Every piece of armour is a carefully crafted relic, and every Chapter has their own. When you field Space Marines in battle, each has gone through the required ritual and takes these honoured pieces of high technology onto the most dangerous battlefields in the galaxy.
They obviously took a lot of inspiration for this based on a lot of the old artwork!
Space Marine II Trailer
If you haven’t watched the trailer yet, do yourself a favor and watch it! That is unless you love Tyranids, the honor of the Imperial Guard, and hate Space Marines, then maybe not. But why are you reading a post about Space Marines…
Anyways, the action is super fast-paced and quite deadly. If the game can capture any of that feel, we’ll be in for a heck of a game! Warhammer Community talked with people who worked on the game ( Oliver Hollis-Leick, the Creative Director at Saber Interactive, and Dessil Basmadjian, the Creative Director at Focus Entertainment) about what to expect, let’s hear what they have to say about the trailer:
The story we’re telling centres on Titus, but it was very important for us to place our hero in an authentic Warhammer 40,000 setting.
We wanted to portray the way a mortal would perceive a Space Marine: a towering Angel of Death, sent down from the heavens by the will of the Emperor. A Space Marine is a warrior of the highest order, a demigod-like figure with almost superhuman powers.
One of the most exciting aspects of the Space Marine franchise is that it gives players an opportunity to experience the Warhammer 40,000 universe directly from the battlefield, making it one of the most immersive portrayals of this vast setting. We wanted fans of the franchise to wonder throughout the trailer if this was a new IP or the sequel that they’ve been craving for 10 years now. For perceptive viewers, however, we included subtle hints at who was under the helmet.
Did you like the video and are you excited to see more lore like the Arming of a Space Marine done like this?
