Control the Cosmos With the New Seraphon Slann Starmaster Rules: n (April 20th, 2023)
These come from Warhammer Community.
Slann Starmasters are puissant wizards of Order who have retained many of the iconic abilities that make them so rightly feared but now get two new spells. The Slann can call upon the Celestial Equilibrium of the cosmos to boost the casting rolls of all friendly Wizards on the battlefield by 1, while the Shield of the Old Ones grants them a personal 4+ ward save against mortal wounds.
Celestial Equilibrium is really sweet if you have a bunch of spell casters and can be a huge buff. Shield of the Old Ones isn’t bad, and with a 4+, you might be able to save this from a lot of mortal wounds.
Seraphon army construction is now divided by the ethereal Azyr-charged Starborne and the more flesh-and-blood Coalesced, each with their own personalised Enhancements.
Slann in either army can access the Spell Lore Drain Magic, which boosts dispelling rolls for friendly units and interferes with enemy unbinding rolls. Starborne Slann can invoke sorceries like Tepok’s Beneficence, an 18” range spell that subtracts 1 from wound rolls for attacks that target these more fragile minions.
Starborne Slann are also the ones you want if you’re a fan of heavenly ordnance and want access to the classic Comet’s Call ability.
Drain Magic is another excellent buff considering you’re going to have so many spell casters, and Tepok’s will really help with the new Skink calvary and keeping them alive. Lastly, it’s nice you can get Comet’s Call again to smash the enemy!
The Slann who command vast temple-cities have adapted to their realm-based existence, focusing instead on more sublunary magic, sending violent fissures across the battlefield. When The Earth Trembles, any unit standing atop these rupturing ley lines suffers D3 mortal wounds on a roll of 4+.
This is pretty insane, as you could probably get three or four units in the line relatively easily. Just be sure to position your Slann in a way to get a ton of units in! If you get four units, you should deal 2D3 of mortals, and if you can get more units, the damage just goes up.
Add Muscle to Your Army With New Seraphon Saurus Rules (April 19th, 2023)
The new rules come from Warhammer Community.
Saurus Warriors now sport a second wound on top of their 4+ save, so shifting these obdurate reptiles is even more challenging. Their Ordered Cohorts are supremely efficient at defending crucial objectives, adding 1 to their save rolls when contesting objectives or wholly within friendly territory.
Gaining an extra wound is a serious deal, as even a squad of ten goes up to 20 wounds. Then with a 4+/3+, they will be great for holding objectives and letting the faster units in your army do the rest!
After a unit of Saurus Warriors has resolved all of its attacks, they can pick a tasty-looking unit within 1” and set to with their Saurus Jaws. Each hungry warrior gets to roll a dice, and each 6+ scores a mortal wound.
This can add up over time, and if you can get ten Saurs within an inch, you should score about 2 6’s, which isn’t insane, but two mortal wounds are no joke. Plus, you can always get lucky and do some serious damage.
New AoS Seraphon Raptadon Hunters & Chargers Rules Revealed By GW! (April 19th, 2023)
The new rules come from Warhammer Community.
These swift Skink cavalry have developed a devious twin-pronged strategy to make the most of their mounts’ innate speed and synchronised pack movement. The first wave of a Seraphon assault often comprises a blistering one-two punch of Raptadon Hunters and Raptadon Chargers.
A certain Cold-blooded Unity between the two units allows Raptadon Chargers to deal increased damage with their Tepok Lances if the unit they target has already been distracted by a hail of celestite-tipped javelins from their Hunter counterparts.
This is interesting, as you want to (in some ways) run both types of units, as the Tepok Lances get stronger if you hit them with the Hunters in the same turn. Still, this puts the to-hit roll to a 3+, so without that, you’re only hitting 50% of the time.
Either way, with three attacks and a possible 3+/3+, they are looking pretty deadly.
Operating with a lethal harmony, Raptadon Hunters react to their charging brethren with sharp reflexes, letting loose surprise volleys from their Starstone Atlatl that rain down at the end of their owner’s charge phase. This Deadly Cohesion of withering ranged attack and lightning-fast charge can only land if the Hunters remain within 12” of the unit engaged by the Chargers’ target unit while also staying 3” from enemy units.
This is a cool synergy, as getting a second round of shots off is really strong. Plus, when combined with the rule above, it should make both units super strong with one another.
New Seraphon Battletome, Army Box, & More New Minis Revealed: (March 23, 2023)
A bunch of new models have already been revealed, but that’s not everything the lizardmen er Seraphon are getting!
Aggradon Lancers
First up, they are getting a new form of heavy cavalry that they said dwarfs the old models but didn’t show too many size comparisons. These will supposedly replace the current cold ones in both the lore and physical miniatures.
Saurus Scar-Veteran on Aggradon
Next up, there is also a new Scar-Veteran, and this one is painted in quite the old-school scheme!
Lacking the truly vast experience of the ancient Oldbloods, Scar-Veterans are nevertheless ruthless commanders who understand how to harness the natural ferocity of aggradon and saurus alike.
Kroxigors
After that, the Seraphon will also get new and exciting Kroxigors! These are quite giant and just look like awesome dinosaurs.
Their kit can also be used to make either version, so again; hopefully, this means a lot of bits.
New Battletome
Obviously, with all the new models previewed, they will also get a new book.
New Army Box
You’ll be able to get your first taste of the new Seraphon with an army set, which contains a Slaan Starmaster, 10 Saurus Warriors, five Raptadon Chargers and five Raptadon Hunters – though you could build two units of either variety!
You’ll also get a special edition battletome with its own cover art, a pack of warscroll cards featuring every Seraphon unit in the new battletome, and a set of 52 enhancement cards to help you execute the Old Ones’ plan with impunity.
They said a few weeks after this box, the models will all be released on their own, so hopefully, you don’t have to wait too long.
New Seraphon Skink Starseers are Masters of the Arcane! (March 6th, 2023)
The Skink comes from this Warhammer Community post.
While the sagacious Slann Starmasters spend their lives unpacking and executing the complex cosmic plans of the Old Ones, quotidian matters of Seraphon society fall to skink scholars and priests, who are in turn led by shrewd Skink Starseers. Don’t let the small size of these reptilian rectors fool you – Skink Starseers are second only to the Slann in their mastery of the arcane powers.
The model is actually really cool, as it’s nice to see a Skink get a palanquin of its own! Obviously, it’s not quite as ornate as the Slann’s, but who would expect it to be?
Much like their caecilian commanders, Skink Starseers float into battle on arcanite palanquins, which conduct thaumaturgical energy and boost the lizard wizard’s powers. Utilising astromantic tools, orbs of pure star-glass, and their throne’s inbuilt dais, they read the constellations to provide celestial guidance to Seraphon armies.
There are some pretty ornate details on the model, and it should float reasonably high above the rest of your lizards. If you want more magic, you can’t go wrong with this.
Skink Starseers Rules
Once per battle in the hero phase, these heavenly hieromancers can provide vital information by choosing to Scry the Stars. Drawing on knowledge snatched from the empyrean expanse, they roll a number of dice equal to the current battle round, with each roll of 2 or more blessing a unit with a 5+ ward.
If you could get two or three 2+’s, this would be really sweet. While it’s not the most insane thing ever, getting a 5+ ward save on multiple units can really save your skin (or scales).
AoS Seraphon Spawn of Chotec: (February 20th, 2023)
Found in the most volcanic regions of the Mortal Realms – and hence all over Aqshy, where they’re often hunted by Fyreslayers – the Spawn of Chotec are fire-spitting salamanders which the Seraphon revere as the offspring of the sun god himself. The Sun Acolytes who handle these sour-tempered salamanders are marked for their duty from birth. When the stars flare and the spawning pools boil, the skinks who emerge are blessed with incredible resistance to heat, as well as frills that resemble Chotec’s own sunburst.
The models are all pretty cool, and with so many new options for Seraphon, you should be able to sink your hobby teeth into this!
In between burning sacrificial victims alive, these disciples are tasked with raising salamanders – then sedating them with crawtoad venom and fitting Old One technology into their skulls. These precious relics allow the Sun Acolytes to direct their choleric charges with light-emitting staves.
If you’re going to have Old One technology into your skull, you might as well be sedated! Back to the model side of things, there are some really nice details on this, and it should be a fun addition to your forces.
Seraphon Spawn of Chotec Rules
When a skink handler marks a foe with a dot of ruby-tinted light, the Spawn of Chotec hawks a viscous Glob of Flame Acid at the target. The ensuing splatter not only ignites immediately, it’s caustic enough to leave victims vulnerable to further attacks.
It is only a 4+ to hit, but if it does hit, it should wound very easily and do a ton of damage! With D6 Damage and Rend -2. Then, the enemy will have -1 to save against all subsequent attacks against them that turn!
AoS Seraphon Saurus Astrolith Bearers Revealed By GW (February 6th, 2023)
The new model comes from this Warhammer Community post.
The Saurus Astrolith Bearer is a warrior marked by destiny, tasked with hoisting a powerful serpentine standard. More than merely an inspiring icon, this arcane device is inscribed with geometric symbols and powered by the orb of purest celestite that floats at its centre.
The standard is pretty awesome looking and will really make a striking feature on the battlefield! Plus, the rules for it are pretty awesome (we’ll check them out below).
Astrolith Bearers hold these emblem-engines aloft to channel energy from the heavens, invigorating nearby Seraphon with a flood of celestial magic.
Sometimes long-dormant glyphs on these devices will lock into new configurations, crackling with resurgent energy. Even the mighty Slann Starmasters don’t understand why – these wise elders simply take it as a sign that the Old Ones still exert their all-knowing influence on the Mortal Realms.
This should be a fun painting challenge, and we’re sure if you’re grabbing the new Starmaster, you might as well get this to buff up his spells.
Celestial Conduit Rules
Seraphon spellslingers benefit significantly from these Celestial Conduits. Their reality-warping power alters the geomantic landscape within 12″, giving a boost to the casting rolls of all nearby SERAPHON WIZARDS and extending the range of their spells.
Other lizards can simply bask in the astrolith’s Revivifying Energies, which provide a ward of 6+ to any friendly SERAPHON wholly within 12″. Coruscating cosmic energy really is the best medicine!
This is actually really strong. Not only will you add 1 to all the casting rolls, but you will also add 6″ to the range! So, if you have these next to your biggest spellcasters, they will really be able to wreak havoc, and stay further out of range of the enemy!
Then, on top of that, you will give all units within 12″ a 6+ ward save, which isn’t the craziest thing ever, but can come up clutch!
New AoS Seraphon Models Unveiled at LVO 2023: (January 27th, 2023)
First up, we have the awesome new Slann Starmaster mini!
This has a lot of similar design elements to what we’ve seen before, but cranked up to 11.
They didn’t give a big insight into what to expect, other than he will be a great spell caster!
New Saurus Warriors
This is a pretty sweet rework, where they kept the original idea and feel of the models, but really made them better.
Obviously, with all these minis, they will get a new battletome in 2023.
If you want to smash through your enemies, these definitely look like they can do it.
Again, not much in the way of how the rules will change, but we always like new minis.
Raptadon Chargers & Hunters
Another new unit and another shrouded mini pic from the New Year’s preview were revealed!
If you’ve always wanted your Skinks to ride around on something that doesn’t fly, well, here you go.
The mounts are quite interesting and should make for a fun painting challenge.
