Get the new Primarch Lion El’Jonson Warhammer 40k rules datasheet and points for free; check out what the father of the first legion can do!
It only makes sense for the rules to be free with 10th edition so close, as you could only use them for a few months anyway. Either way, we’ll never complain about free rules! We saw his statline already, but it’s nice to see the entire datasheet and special rules!
It’s interesting to note he’s actually 20 more points than Guilliman, but his damage output is just pretty insane. However, he can’t come back to life, so don’t let him get got!
Let’s take a closer look at the rules.

The rules come from Warhammer Community.
If you thought he was a powerful enough duelist already, we have good news. There isn’t a creature alive that can stand up to the Lion’s mix of speed and skill, so he naturally fights first in any combat – a daunting prospect for anyone who has to face down 20 attacks.
When you add the Sweep rule for The Lion, he can get at least 20 attacks at AP-3 and Damage 2! This means he could quickly kill swathes of Chaos Marines (or anything really!) If you need to kill something more significant, he goes to S10, AP-5, and D4, still with at least ten attacks.
He also strikes first and rerolls hits and wounds of one, meaning you should almost always hit with nearly 20 attacks, and wound with about 15-16. Then, even with a 3+ save to start, your enemy will be at sixes, and only save a few, so he could quickly kill a ten-man squad of 2-wound models in one swipe.
We’re not sure how many people will Deepstrike him, as you want his buffs around all game, but you could get him into combat on turn two, especially with the charge re-roll.
What marks him out as a warrior of truly singular provenance isn’t even his sword, but rather the Emperor’s Shield. This auramite aegis was once wielded by the Emperor himself, and aside from its indomitable protective powers it reflects the force of incoming attacks right back at his foe with a sonorous boom.
Defensively, he doesn’t have quite as good of a save as Guilliman. But he bounces back Mortal Wounds to the enemy, so again, he is just just a real beat stick.
He’s also not one to let such things as random chance get in the way of a good heretic-kicking, so his Primarch of the First Legion aura lets him re-roll all hit and wound rolls of 1. Nearby DARK ANGELS CORE and CHARACTER units also get the benefit, because who could fail to be inspired by such ungodly martial skills?
If you notice, this aura is a little better than Guilliman’s as he still lets characters re-roll 1’s to wound, not just Core. However, he doesn’t have the +1 to advance and charge rolls, so we guess it levels out.
Finally, the two Watchers in the Dark on his base are more than just bellhops – their strange powers help the Lion ward off psychic powers. The mysterious retainers are especially good at denying CHAOS magicks, but each attempt will burn one of the poor little guys out, so choose your time wisely.
Last but not least, you can actually deny Psychic Powers with the Watchers on his base! Overall, he’s about the same points as Guilliman but dishes out more damage with a little less survivability and army buffs.
