Another new 40k Meta Monday is here, with the next unbeatable Warhammer 40k armies from The World Championships that changed everything.
The auspex scans were correct, Admech was unsurprisingly overrepresented by player count, and took down the World Championship of Warhammer this weekend.
We’re going to take a look at what happened over the weekend at The WCW and the CollectorMania Premier GT.
Since September’s 40k balance update dropped, and let’s just say a few armies are feeling the burn. This breakdown zeroes in on what’s actually shifting the Meta Monday spotlight and what might trip you up at your next event.
Latest Warhammer 40k Meta Monday Lists
Ad Mech didn’t just sneak into the spotlight; they kicked the door down and took the trophy with them. Richard Siegler, the machine himself, brought the cog-clad menace to Worlds and walked out with the win, proving that a well-oiled list in the hands of a precision pilot still reigns supreme.
With 25% of the top cut fielding Adeptus Mechanicus, it’s safe to say we’ve hit that magical point where buffs actually turned into results.
And it wasn’t just Admech stealing scenes. Chaos Space Marines brought some heavy metal with Vashtorr and the Obliterators, while Raven Guard quietly tied up a top table.
Let’s dig into the latest winning army lists, as this Warhammer 40k Meta Monday looks like it is changing once again…
Richard Siegler’s Admech 40k Army List Wins Worlds!
Congrats to the machine himself, Richard Siegler, for becoming the newest World Champion of Warhammer. Siegler was confident enough in Admech to take them to Worlds last year as well, where he also had a similar run.
He was also the sole Admech to make the top 10. However, there were four total in the top cut, but those other 3 Admech combined for a 0-8 record in the top cut, only having wins against their fellow Ad Mech pilots, proving that experience and execution trump all when you’re at the highest level.
Adeptus Mechanicus has been receiving buff after buff, and we’ve finally hit a critical mass where they have everything they need to handle the meta.
Maybe giving them Oaths of Moment alongside additional lascannon shots was too much, but who could possibly know?
Richard Siegler’s 40k Admech Army List
Siegler is widely regarded as the best Admech pilot in the world, so I’ll do my best to suss out how all the gears fit together in this list.
Cawl is an obvious auto-inclusion these days; you just can’t pass up on a guy who’s more durable than his points AND gives your whole army reroll hits. So, always start there with your list.
Siegler also wouldn’t leave home without the Cantic Thrallnet enhancement, bringing a Marshal to carry the extremely powerful enhancement that allows you to pick one unit within 12″ to have Conqueror and Protector imperative active. Conqueror and Protector give a ton of rules, so let’s break them down:
- Heavy, +1BS, -1 to hit in combat (battleline within 6″ required)
- Assault, +1WS, +1 AP (battleline within 6″ required)
That is a ton of buffs to make this army really sing.
This army really needs Battleline in the correct spots to get the full benefits of buffs, because Pteraxii Skystalkers move 12″ plus fire and fade 6 or 12″ if they end near a battleline as well. Skystalkers make for an exceptional trading piece into the other meta bully, Aeldari, and it’s on display in the finals against Liam’s Aspect Host.
Oh, and NINE Chickens. They just got extra shots and can really pump into any target with their twin-linked profiles. Siegler opted for six Lascannon and three Autocannons, and commented about the autocannons really helping smooth out some matchups for him in his interview.
It will cost you nearly $600 before tax to run 9 Chickens, though, ouch.
The list also includes 30 Sicarian Infiltrators to absolutely dominate primary. With the ability to battleshock anyone at -1 (or -2 near Battleline) at the start of the fight phase, they can swing games wildly on a couple of dice rolls.
Ruststalkers round out this list with an insane range and turn one pressure. I’m not sure the entire combo, but it’s something like 31″ threat range on turn one, a bucket of attacks with high AP, and precision.
A Tie at CollectorMania Premier GT Winter 2025
Liam may have been at the WCW, but Veterans of the Long War still have some supporters taking up the banner in his absence!
Trae Burnett’s 40k Chaos Space Marines Army List
Chaos Space Marines have been around, but don’t often see the top of placings these days, but that didn’t stop Trae from bringing one of the coolest models of the edition, Vashtorr! Vashtorr is an absolute load for a Lone Op (within 3″ of a vehicle) and swings an Anti-Vehicle 4+ Dev Wounds hammer that makes big vehicles disappear.
Another staple of Veterans is the Obliterators; they can take advantage of a passive turn by using the detachment’s “Oaths” on a target they’re about to indirect, making them fairly reliable at dealing devastating damage before enemies start trading in the open.
The rest of the list is traditional CSM good stuff that you’re probably familiar with. Legionaires are an incredible battleline unit, and Chosen can sweep basically anything off the board in one combat phase.
Final Thoughts on These 40k Meta Monday Lists
And there it is, Admech didn’t just show up, they took home the belt. Siegler flexed his binary biceps and showed the rest of the field what happens when a faction with gas finally finds the ignition key.
Between the reroll factories, the chicken coop of doom, and a pile of melee threats that can speed-run your backline, this list doesn’t play fair. And with 25% of the top cut repping the Cogboys, it’s safe to say we’ve hit that tipping point.
CSM showing up with Vashtorr and the Obliterator crew was a nice touch, too. Chaos is still in the mix if you’ve got the right tech and a giant hammer that deletes vehicles. Pair that with Raven Guard sneaking into a tie, against Trae, and it’s starting to look like 2-wound bodies with invulns might be the trend to watch.
So yeah, Siegler’s got the trophy, Admech’s got the spotlight, and your wallet’s probably sweating at the thought of NINE Ironstriders.
