Another new 40k Meta Monday is here, with the next unbeatable Warhammer 40k armies! LVO and LGT changed everything. Do you have enough bullets?

With the double turn of LVO complete, a “classic” meta menace is emerging. We’re going to take a look at what happened over the weekend at LVO (573 players) and the Michigan GT 40k Champs (133 players)

September’s Warhammer 40k balance dataslate has shaken things up where it counts.

If you’re trying to figure out which changes actually shake up the 40k Meta Monday, this breakdown gets straight to the point and spotlights the updates that’ll likely swing your next tournament.

The Meta just got loud and full of lasguns and ninja stars. This week’s 40k Meta Monday hit like a Basilisk barrage, with Guard bodies piling up wins and Eldar still dancing circles around the competition.

LVO and Michigan GT showed that Astra Militarum’s wall of OC-stacked infantry isn’t just funny, it’s terrifying. So, if you thought the elite meta like Knights was safe, think again.

Let’s dig into the latest winning army lists, as this Warhammer 40k Meta Monday looks like it is changing once again…

Astra Militarum Take down LVO XII

I’m sure we’ve all seen the classic “Send Dudes!” Guilliman meme by now, but it seems appropriate here.

That’s -a lot- of dudes. Most people will look at this list and think they can handle it, but the problem lies in the absolutely massive amount of board presence and OC it has access to. If you think you’re going to clock the list out, think about how many shots you’re going to be firing because the clock might actually be your own worst enemy as well.

The list is perfectly poised to exploit an elite/knights meta as well, given everyone’s lascannons just do nothing to it. While the army itself can focus on the units that actually do damage with its array of special weapons, then drown you in bodies.

Those bodies also receive “super cover” and have a 3+ save against basically all shooting unless cover is stripped.

Getting into this list in melee is one of the best ways to wipe bodies en masse, but the Recon detachment has access to two crazy strategems to prevent getting stuck in, one is Tanglefoot Grenades (-2″ to charge).

The other is a flat six reactive move when you get close, that means you’ll always have to bomb 9″ charges unless you’re 6″ deep striking, not a great place to be.

Tons of T3 bodies with a decent save proved to be an impossible ask for any of the armies at LVO. This is not a technique we’re unfamiliar with. Chaos Cultists were using the same strategy earlier in the edition to exploit a vulnerability in many meta lists.

Great list design overall.

Two BIG Fire Dragons squads. He would have hated to see that guard list! Travis definitely leaned into the ability to devastate multiple enemy hardpoints a turn with two blocks of 10 fire dragons, and it helped him take down the Michigan GT.

Following the efficiency of fire dragons are three units of Warp Spiders; these little guys are just incredible, handling everything from trash clearing to getting backline characters and screens, or just doing a humble action.

24″ move is definitely one of the stats of all time in 10th Edition.

Swooping Hawks are also rounding out this list with their ability to just contribute in many ways, whether it’s cracking a hard target with fly over mortals, clearing chaff/screens, or also being incredibly fast action units. These guys do it all.

That is a theme with Travis’s list.

Final Thoughts on These 40k Meta Monday Lists

lvo tables tournament event Unbeatable Warhammer 40k Armies: warhammer 40k meta

This 40k Meta Monday Guard just reminded everyone that quantity can beat quality, and the Aeldari are still showing what happens when you mix speed with pinpoint damage. If you’re trying to survive this meta, pack tools that burn through cover, chew hordes, and keep pace with the zoomies.

Melee hammer units help clean up what slips through, but smart trading and board control still win games. Technically, all the Codexes have dropped, and the current mission deck is still new.

Calling the next Meta Monday 40k king right now is still pure guesswork.
