It’s a whole new 40k Meta Monday now; GW finally dropped some points nudges to the top army bullies, making a lot of room for activities for other Warhammer factions!
The ripcord just got yanked on Warhammer 40k, and the September 1st update means the meta you knew last week is already old news. Games Workshop finally threw some point shifts at the bullies sitting on top of the pile, and it is shaking things up across the board.
Armies that were gasping for breathing room suddenly have a chance to stretch their legs, while the biggest offenders now have to think twice before rolling up to the table.
This 40k Meta Monday feels like someone just opened the floodgates, and that means one thing for players everywhere: it’s time to see which factions can actually shine when the usual suspects are forced to play fair.
Latest Warhammer 10th Edition Meta Lists
Looks like the Aeldari didn’t need a full codex overhaul to steal the show. A few Phoenix Lords, some well-placed mortals, and a pilot who knows exactly when to push made all the difference. Folger Pyles proved that with the right touch, even a sprinkle of single-unit tech can go the distance.
Same vibe with Sam Young’s Sisters. T3 bodies with a little trickery, Sacresants that just won’t stay down, and a Hospitaler doing overtime to keep the whole machine grinding forward. Those Kill Team Sanctifiers? Definitely not just for display anymore.
Now, let’s dig into the latest winning lists, as this Warhammer 40k Meta Monday looks way more inviting to all types of armies.
NOVA Open 2025 Grand Tournament
World Champion Folger Pyles, rising like a Phoenix Lord from the ashes of the Death Guard and Knights points NERFs to take down NOVA.
Folger Pyles’ Aeldari Warhost
Folger kits this list out with tons of rerolls across the board. The Voidreavers are a typical battleline with reroll 1s to wound, or reroll all wounds against an objective, making them a great skirmish piece, of which he took three.
The Phoenix Lords came out in force to take down Nova, with nearly a full complement of the big dogs to lead the army to victory. Since the dawn of the Codex, I’ve heard many players discussing their disappointment with Maugan Ra, but it turns out, he’s got a particular set of skills catered to the current meta.
Exploding D3 mortals around a target is reminiscent of those plagueburst crawlers we were seeing so much of; thankfully, there’s only one Maugan.
The rest of the list is pretty standard Aeldari fanfare, with Warpspiders, Fire Dragons, and Dark Reapers. But only one of each makes piloting them something only an expert should attempt.
Roll for Damage GT
Another set of T3, effective saves, bodies; maybe there’s a pattern that Sam Young has also figured out in this current meta.
Sam Young’s Adepta Sororitas Champions of Faith
This army list is a lot of ladies. The new Killteam Sanctifiers give the army a forward presence, and likely surprised their opponents with their better-than-normal invuln (5++ instead of the sisters’ usual 6++).
Followed by two units of Paragons, one led by Vahl to mow down big targets with their extremely effective shooting and combat into anything big.
The army is also loaded with three units of resurrecting Sacresants. Sacresants are fairly decent at fighting over objectives and brawling, and the Hospitaler keeps their more annoying than you’d expect defensive profile regenerating.
Final Thoughts on These 40k Meta Monday Lists
With so many new codexes flooding the scene, along with a new mission pack, it’s nearly impossible to pinpoint what faction will be the new Meta Monday 40k army right now.
All that aside, this week’s points update didn’t just nudge the meta, it shoved it. Aeldari brought the heat, Sisters punched above their weight, and the game actually feels open again.
If you’ve been waiting for a reason to dust off that army you shelved three months ago, this is it. The usual suspects got their wings clipped, and now the field’s wide open for some unexpected champions to step up.
So, whether you’re scheming your next GT win or just happy your army doesn’t auto-lose on deployment anymore, now’s the time to hit the table.
Just maybe double-check those new points before you show up with your old list. It’s wild out there, but that’s half the fun.
