Editor’s Note: Shout out to Kyle for winning, but Imperial Knights aren’t the most exciting. So, we are covering the 2nd-4th place lists this time around.
2nd Place: Dan Sammons, Astra Militarum Army Lists
At Flying Monkey Con 2025, the Astra Militarum roared forward with tank treads, lasguns, and sabers drawn. This winning list didn’t just bring firepower. It brought legacy, lore, and a whole lot of angry Krieg cavalry.
It all kicked off with a Cadian Command Squad, led by a powerfist-swinging, plasma-toting officer rocking the Death Mask of Ollanius. Backed by meltaguns, vox-casters, banners, and medipacks, they shouted orders and looked good doing it.
Then came Gaunt’s Ghosts, six legends with names, backstory, and bite. From Larkin’s long-las to Bragg’s autocannon, this squad delivered character-driven carnage.
A Rogal Dorn Commander rolled up next, loaded with multi-meltas, stubbers, a coaxial autocannon, and both the Oppressor and Pulveriser cannons. Throw in Grand Strategist to keep things moving like a Regimental parade.
Backing that up, a Tech-Priest Enginseer clanked onto the field to duct tape broken Dorns between barrages. And no Astra Militarum success story would be complete without Ursula Creed, shouting down entire firing lines with Duty and Vengeance in hand.
Troops on foot? A squad of Cadian Shock Troops with a meltagun, plasma gun, and nine lasguns. Then it got spicy. Three units of Death Riders, each with frag lances, power sabres, and enough hooves to cause seismic activity.
For those who like their war crimes delivered hot, a Krieg Heavy Weapons Squad brought three heavy flamers and four people with laspistols yelling “clear the trench.”
And speaking of firepower, this list fielded three Leman Russ Vanquishers, each tuned for tank busting. Vanquisher battle cannons, lascannons, multi-meltas, and hunter-killer missiles.
Two more Rogal Dorn Battle Tanks followed, practically twins to the Commander’s ride but without the clipboard. Same brutal loadout. Same agenda.
Then came the scouts. Not the sneaky kind, but Scout Sentinels wielding chainsaws and lascannons. Three of them, each tossing out hunter-killers before charging something that shouldn’t be charged.

4th Place: Kit Smith Hanna, Chaos Daemons Army Lists

Flying Monkey Con 2025 gave us a clear picture of how the latest balance update may reshape the tabletop.
