New Warhammer 40k Roadmap Reveals Next 4 Codex Books (sorta)

new-gw-releases-marchWith the Warhammer 40k Codex roadmap revealed, we know what to expect through the end of the year, plus some hints for 2022!

Have you been hoping and praying to get a codex for your army and finally receive that sweet power buff? Well, some of you are in luck because there will be 4 more codexes coming this year after Grey Knights and Thousand sons. Unfortunately, no more Chaos, but they did say 2022 will be a big year for them.

Warhammer Community just unveiled the map along with some redacted images. Let’s get into it!

Warhammer 40k Codex Roadmap Revealed to 2022!

Codex release Map

Eagle-eyed heretics** may note the lack of codexes for the Traitor Legions. Do not despair, as 2022 will be a bumper year for warp-based shenanigans.

Obviously, this month is Grey Knights and Thousand Sons. If you missed out on the Beast Snagga box, you are in luck as next month will see the full release of the codex. We assume they are giving the month to them alone because it will be when all of the minis will also go live.

So if you’ve been waiting patiently (not very Orky of you though), you don’t have much longer to go. We’re happy it’s coming soon because a lot of people missed out on the box. November will be Black Templars, and by the sounds of it, they may be getting much more than just the Emperor’s Champion.

Black Templars Emperors Champion 2

Earlier this week, you met the fancy new Emperor’s Champion, and we promised there would be more to come. Codex Supplement: Black Templars will be marching forth in November – and the Emperor’s Champion is bringing reinforcements. Hold onto your purity seals, this is going to be a hot one.

There were rumors of Helbrecht also going Primaris, so that’s looking much more possible now. Other than that, we’re not a hundred percent on what else they will be receiving.

What Could be Coming Next?

Codex roadmapAnd in December, we’ll see brand new codexes for xenos and Imperial armies. What could they be? We can’t tell you, which has nothing to do with the Inquisitor looming menacingly behind us…

So first up, these are the generic art they use for Xenos and Imperial armies, so not too much to look into there. We have heard some rumors of Eldar coming soon with all three of the factions in one book (Craftworlds, Harlequins, and Ynnari).

This would make sense in a way because it could knock out three Xenos armies in one go and Eldar has traditionally received their codex very early on in new editions (not that it’s that early…). Other than that, Tyranids could very well see a book with them taking center stage in the new Charadon book. In a weird way though, we hope they don’t because it would probably mean not many updated minis.

What books do you think are coming next? Are you excited about the new books?
