Space Marines 40k Combat Patrol Combat Patrol Review

Is-this-Worth-It-&-Value-Space-marines-combat-patrol

This Combat Patrol is basically the “Leviathan leftovers” special: a tiny headcount, one half-squad, and some of the weakest value GW has slapped on one of these boxes in ages.

In smaller CP games, the Space Marines Combat Patrol rules still let you run this as a plug-and-play list right out of the box, and the Terminator core means it can swing hard early.

Space Marines Combat Patrol Price By Region: $170 (US) CAD$200 (Canada) AUD$285 (Aus) £100 (UK) €130 (EU)

Models Unit Name Value
1 Terminator Librarian  $40
1 Captain in Terminator Armor  $44
5 Terminators (ETB Kit) $65
5 Infernus Marines (Half Squad) $35
Combat Patrol: Space Marines
  Total MSRP:  $184
  Savings Versus Box Price: $16

Is the Space Marines Combat Patrol Worth It?

infernus squad

If you’re getting déjà vu, it’s because this Space Marine Combat Patrol is basically “Leviathan, but with the good stuff missing.” You’re looking at a trimmed-down chunk of that launch set, minus the Ballistus Dreadnought, minus the extra Infernus bodies, and minus the Sternguard that padded the value.

The end result? The savings are barely savings.

If you truly need these exact models because you skipped Leviathan and want the Terminator core in one grab, sure, it does the job. But if you’re shopping for value, this one’s a miss. You can often piece the same kits together cheaper through discount retailers or the secondary market, and you’ll end up with only what you actually plan to build and play.

Rules-wise, it still functions as a clean, self-contained Space Marines Combat Patrol list, and it will absolutely put a real force on the table. It’s just a sub-par box release from GW when you look at what you pay versus what you get.

What Can You Play Out of the Box? (Combat Patrol Rules vs 40k Points)

Combat Patrol is its own little bubble, so points are not the headline. If you’re tossing this box into regular 40k, the contents usually shake out to around 450 points, give or take, depending on the latest points update.

What to Buy Next After the Space Marines Combat Patrol

10th edition Space Marines Combat patrolPair this box with a real backbone unit (Intercessors or another Battleline pick) and one solid fire support piece (tank or Dreadnought), and you’ve got a playable core fast. After that, add more Terminators or a fast objective-grabber to round things out, because this box alone is just the starting line, not the finish.

The out-of-print 2021 Combat Patrol is the box people still name-drop mid-argument, mostly because the savings were chunky and it was actually a lineup you’d want to own. Here’s the quick contents and value comparison so you can size it up without the nostalgia blinders.

Models Unit Name Value
10 Infiltrators  $62.50
5 Eliminators $60
1 Impulsor $84
1 Phobos Lieutenant $35
2 Suppressors $60

Final Thoughts From Us on the Space Marines Combat Patrol

The Space Marines Combat Patrol isn’t trying to blow anyone’s mind. It’s here to get Terminators on the table fast and give you a clean, playable force using the Combat Patrol rules.

If you missed Leviathan and you actually want these exact kits, it’ll do the job. But if you’re chasing value, this one’s a tough sell, and you’re usually better off buying the models you actually want piece by piece.
