Here are the latest new releases and a preview roadmap from Games Workshop for Horus Heresy, Saturnine, and the Age of Darkness.
Upcoming New Releases from 2024 Through 2025
Get the scoop on the upcoming Warhammer 40k Horus Heresy Age of Darkness roadmap for 2024 into 2025.
Tons of awesome new sculpts and revamped classics are on the way as Games Workshop goes all out to keep your armies looking fresh and fierce. And if you’re itching to know about the latest campaign books, we’ve got the inside scoop right here for you!
On The Horizon:
Here’s all the upcoming Horus Heresy releases we know are on the horizon, but just don’t ask when. Look for more information to drop shortly about all the new products in this section, soon™.
MKII Assault Squad
The classic Crusade Armour gets a fresh twist with this brutal MkII Assault Squad, perfect for smashing faces and storming walls. You get 10 Space Marines armed with chainaxes and bolt pistols, plus enough extra goodies, combat shields, volkites, disintegrators, and more, to start your own armory.
Bonus: the chainaxe loadout doesn’t even cost extra points, so why not go full chop-mode?
Journal Tactica: The Forges of Saturn
This lore-packed entry dives into how Vulkan helped bring back the Saturnine Terminator plate and why it hit like a thunder hammer during the Heresy. You’ll get tales of bitter rivalries, betrayals, and that time the Thousand Sons and White Scars had a very unfriendly chat.
Oh, and it’s loaded with crunchy rules too, with new missions, units, upgrades, and a Word Bearers squad that probably smells like brimstone and smugness.
The Fellblade Returns in Plastic!
The Fellblade is every Legion commander’s dream tank—300+ tonnes of pure, plasma-powered fury, wrapped in metaplas armor and ready to ruin anyone’s day. It makes Imperial Army tanks look like kids’ toys.
Up top, you’ve got a turret-mounted accelerator cannon strong enough to make Titans nervous. Add in a hull demolisher cannon, quad-lascannons (swappable for laser destroyers or gravis heavy bolters), hull weapons, and pintle options, and you’ve basically got a battleship on treads.
Oh—and yes, you can throw in some crew for extra style points. It also looks like the Fellglaive was spotted in the background video too, so we expect that it will be on the way soon as well!
Plastic Breachers & MKII Assault Marines On the Way
Prefer getting up close and personal? Feast your eyes on the new MKII Assault Marine. This guy’s all rage and chainaxe—basically a walking blender with power armor. These will be added to the Horus Heresy Roadmap after the launch of Saturnine and should likely be released by the fall.
And yes, plastic Breachers are finally inbound on the Horus Heresy roadmap! These shield-wielding tanks are perfect for Zone Mortalis brawls and trench-line showdowns. Fans have been begging for these, and now they’re here.
Angron Transfigured & Lotara
The World Eaters are getting some serious reinforcements for the Horus Heresy, and it’s safe to say these two characters are at the heart of their brutal legacy.
Angron, now a fully warped instrument of the Blood God, and Lotara Sarrin, the iron-willed captain of The Conqueror, are stepping onto the battlefield in stunning new Forge World miniatures.

Horus Heresy Saturnine Launch Products: Release Date July 26th, 2025
Mark your calendar and start bribing your backlog, July 26th, 2025, is when the Saturnine Box and its rulebook-toting reinforcements officially drop.
New units, updated rules, and enough lore to make a remembrancer weep. The new edition lands soon—and it’s bringing Saturnine-sized heat with it.
Journal Tactica: Isstvan V Dropsite Massacre
They’re also dropping a new Journal Tactica—think of it as a bonus book packed with extra scenarios, cool lore, special rules, and fresh ways to play. The first one’s all about the Isstvan V Dropsite Massacre (yep, that infamous bloodbath), so you can actually recreate it on the tabletop with proper rules.
These are one-off books, kind of like the 40k Crusade books—great for spicing up your games with themed content and epic story-driven battles.
Five New Liber Rulebooks Dropping Alongside Saturnine
When the new Saturnine box and core rulebook drop, you’re not getting left in the dark—all the big rulebooks (almost) are coming with it: Liber Hereticus, Astartes, Auxilia, Mechanicum, and Questoris. That means whatever flavor of war you’re into, you’ll have the rules to run it.
Only catch? The Talons of the Emperor book (you know, for all the shiny golden demigods and their wizard pals) is fashionably late. But don’t worry—they’re tossing us a free digital version on launch day to tide us over. Classy move, GW.
New Horus Heresy Saturnine Starter Set
As we saw in the cinematic trailer,Saturnine for Horus Heresy Third Edition is rolling in hotter than a multi-melta on Overwatch. Between the chunky new Saturnine dreadnought, those grimdark-as-you-like MkII marines, and a ruleset stuffed like a Land Raider’s crew bay, this box isn’t just heavy—it’s heresy-grade dense.
This will be the new edition of Warhammer Horus Heresy for the next three years.
New Gun Platforms Dropping In: Release Date June 28th, 2025
The Tarantula Sentry Gun is the Araknae’s scrappy little brother—an automated gun turret that drops from orbit to help your Legion lock down key zones. It’s cheap, remote, and fully customizable with anti-infantry or anti-tank weapons. Basically, battlefield pest control.
The Rapier fills a similar role but rolls into battle with bigger guns. Two new plastic kits are coming: one with a graviton cannon or quad-bolter, the other with a quad-launcher or laser-destroyer. If you need it dead, there’s a Rapier for that.
Their crews? Packed with detail—scanners, visors, controls, and a buffet of swappable heads and arms. Like all Heresy plastics, everything mixes and matches like a dream.
Tarantula Missile Battery Kit: Release Date June 28th, 2025
Each Tarantula Missile Battery box gives you two platforms that can be built with either Hyperios missile launchers or Orias frag missiles. Hyperios launchers bring serious anti-air to the table, perfect for dealing with pesky fliers when your Legion’s got more boots than wings.
Orias missiles, on the other hand, focus on wide-area infantry suppression—ideal for making light infantry regret their morning march. Whether you’re gunning for speeders or footsloggers, you’ve got the tools for the job.
Warhammer 40k Horus Heresy Roadmap
We’re getting new digital rules in 2025 that cover just about every flavor of carnage from the Age of Darkness.
Want to run a ragtag bunch of Shattered Legions out for revenge? You’re covered. Into daemonic nightmares, stomping in from the Ruinstorm? Got those, too. And Zone Mortalis? It’s getting a proper update—tight corridors, brutal firefights, and no escape.
Previews of the Coming Future
Space Marines aren’t hogging all the plastic love either—Forge World’s finest are look to be rolling out new troops from Mars too.
Look sharp—there’s also a gleam of auramite steel. Someone very golden is about to arrive…
The Horus Heresy never fails to surprise, and this year, the Age of Darkness has been anything but quiet. Looking ahead from the Horus Heresy roadmap 2024, Games Workshop said in 2025 we’ll be treated to an array of new tanks and plastic weapons options for existing walkers.

Big Summer Previews
- Mastodon Super-heavy Assault Transports: These beasts aren’t tanks, they’re rolling fortresses with a grudge. Packed with guns, anti-air, and a melta that says no thanks to fortifications, Mastodons drop squads into the fight like a sledgehammer through drywall. And yes, you get two.
- Whirlwind and Scorpius Missile Tank Squadrons: Need to turn a garrison into a crater? Whirlwinds rain fire on packed infantry. Scorpius tanks deliver the kind of punch that makes vehicles rethink their life choices. Eight artillery tanks, one big headache for your opponent.
- Vindicator Siege Tank Squadron: Vindicators don’t knock on doors, they blast them into rubble. With chunky demolisher cannons and a pintle bolter just for fun, these eight tanks scream “subtlety is for traitors.” Cupola crew optional, explosions mandatory.
- Cerberus Heavy Tank Destroyer Squadron: Think of the Cerberus as the Spartan’s angry, gun-obsessed cousin. It ditched the troop space for a neutron laser and a buffet of sponsons, all designed to ruin a Titan’s day. Four tanks, one mission: vaporize everything.
- Typhon Heavy Siege Tank Squadron: It’s basically a bunker on treads with a gun that could flatten a city block. The Typhon lumbers forward, shrugs off hits, and deletes chunks of the enemy line with its dreadhammer cannon. Four miniatures, zero subtlety.
Liber Strategia:
This is the big update book, 240 pages of new rules, formations, and army lists covering everyone from Space Marines to evil toaster cults. If you’re playing Legions Imperialis, this book’s your new HQ.
- Iconic Formations: From Iron Hands tank-killers to Warmaster-loyal headhunters, these formations add spicy flavor to your force. They’re not just cool names, they’re tabletop wrecking balls with lore to match.
- Formation and Datasheet Cards: Tired of flipping pages mid-turn? These card packs keep your stats and formations at your fingertips. Stay focused on crushing dreams, not checking indexes.
- Order Tokens and Objective Markers: Because remembering every order you gave is for mortals. These 92 tokens keep your plans hidden ‘til the right moment, then you flip them and hit your opponent with maximum smugness.
April 26th, 2025 Releases
Krios Mechanicum Squadron
Fast, deadly, and loaded with exotic weaponry, the Krios is the kind of tank that makes battlefield commanders rethink their entire strategy. This squadron box comes with six tanks, and you get to pick your weapon loadout. If you like a mobile strike force that can reposition quickly and still dish out serious punishment, these are for you.
Karacnos Mechanicum Assault Tank Squadron
The Karacnos Assault Tank doesn’t mess around. Designed to soften up biological targets before the main charge, this box comes with four tanks, each equipped with radiological mortar batteries—because why fight fair? If you like the idea of indirect firepower raining down on your enemies while keeping your tanks out of harm’s way, this squadron brings serious value to the table.
Cerastus Knights Atrapos:
Graviton cannons, giant laser cutters, and a personality described as “mildly unhinged.” Four in a box, ready to throw down.
Acastus Knights Asterius:
Basically Warhound Titans with less sass. These come loaded with serious firepower and even more attitude
Knight Magaera & Styrix Kit
This plastic set lets you build four Knights, choosing between the Magaera and the Styrix. Both come armed with the Hekaton siege claw for close combat, but their ranged weapons set them apart. The Magaera wields a lightning cannon, a Mechanicum staple that cuts through armor and elite infantry. The Styrix, on the other hand, brings a volkite chieorovile, designed to vaporize flesh and burn through energy shields.
