Just days after their major new brand identity overhaul, Asmodee-affiliated studios FFG and AMG are rolling out a massive 15% price increase.
Updated on June 14th, 2025, by Rob Baer with the latest information about Asmodee.
Atomic Mass Games and Fantasy Flight Games just dropped a bit of a thermal detonator on the community. Starting July 1, 2025, prices on their new products in the U.S. will jump by around 15%. Yep, fifteen.
And if you thought your store’s stash of old minis was safe, think again—older releases are getting hit with up to a 10% increase starting July 15.
Let’s break it all down with some clarity, a little sarcasm, and a lot of hobby insight.
Why the AMG Price Increase?
According to Atomic Mass Games, it’s about rising import costs. The company blames ongoing global shipping and tariff issues. They say this is their way of keeping things sustainable while still producing premium Star Wars and Marvel miniatures.
In plain speak: stuff costs more to make and ship, so now it costs more to buy.
It’s worth noting this move isn’t happening in a vacuum. Fantasy Flight Games, another Asmodee-distributed brand, made a nearly identical announcement.
This is also after they announced they would stop distributing for Parabellum Games. It appears that this is a coordinated effort of belt-tightening across the Asmodee umbrella, rather than a solo stunt by AMG.
Is 15% Normal? Not Quite.
Compared to other tabletop giants like Games Workshop, whose typical price hikes range between 6% and 8%, this new jump from AMG is nearly double. That’s a steep increase, and fans are noticing.
Sure, the global economy isn’t playing nice, and tariffs are squeezing everyone. But a jump this sharp right after announcing a shiny rebrand and gearing up for the Star Wars: Legion relaunch? That timing feels… intentional, almost like they wanted to butter us up before handing over the bill.
What You Can Do Now
Let’s talk action. Here’s what you can actually do if you’re part of the Star Wars Legion, Shatterpoint, or Marvel Crisis Protocol scene:
1. Grab Older Products Before July 15
Anything released before July 1 is fair game for the 10% bump, and that increase hits stores July 15. If there are models you’ve been eyeing, now’s the time to scoop them up. Expect popular items to disappear fast.
2. Brace for New Releases
New product pricing kicks in on July 1, and there’s no way around it. If you’re planning to jump back in with the Legion relaunch, your entry fee just went up. If you’re on the fence, this could be the push off (or onto) it.
3. Ignore the “It’s Temporary” Line
Some stores were told this might be reversed if tariffs go down. Let’s be real—how often have tabletop prices gone down? COVID raised prices across the board, and they never bounced back. Set expectations accordingly.
So, How Long Was This Planned For?
Hard to say. The timing raises eyebrows. AMG just completed a rebrand—new logo, new energy, big Legion marketing push—and then, boom, price hike notice at 2 PM on a Friday. Not shady, just…conveniently placed in the news cycle when everyone’s logging off.
It’s also clear they’ve been working the phones with retailers all week, laying the groundwork. If you’re a store owner, you’ve probably already had the “it’s coming, but we love you” call.
Speaking of retailers, many reported to us that it looks like Asmodee dropped Para Bellum, which produces the Conquest miniatures game, from distribution on Friday as well. Currently, they are still listed as a retailer on their site, but that apparently looks to be changing soon.
Final Thoughts: Buy Smart, Play On
The hobby’s changing, and your wallet’s feeling it. The good news? Most communities are already buzzing about group buys, trading, and ways to stay active without breaking the bank. If you’re strategic, you can still keep your army growing without selling a kidney.
Just don’t wait too long. July’s creeping up fast, and those shelves are going to start looking emptier as folks rush to dodge the increase.
