That’s right, it’s back and it’s FREE! So, each month, Games Workshop offers a free “mini of the month” at their stores based on the faction release, along with a promo coin.
It’s a fantastic way to try out new painting techniques or start a new faction without breaking the bank.
Starting September 6th, the free Age of Sigmar mini of the month is a Vongrim Harpoon Crew, while supplies last. It’s a brand-new mini from the latest Overlords release, perfect for both new and veteran players alike!

Free Mini of the Month: September 2025
Just like each one before it, the latest Warhammer mini of the month is up for grabs while supplies last, and we never really know if the Warhammer store will be opening a unit box for the free model or if you’ll get a complete miniature on a small sprue.
So, you might not get the exact model shown above by Games Workshop, but it should be from the same unit.
This time, there is also a new asterisk on the model from GW. If you get your mini in Australia, Europe, New Zealand, or the UK, you will need to assemble it in-store. We’re not sure why the change occurred, but if you’re in any of those countries, you can’t just walk out the door with it.
Why You Should Grab It:
The Kharadron Overlords got a nice batch of new toys in their latest wave, and the Harpoon Crew are easily some of the slickest minis in the lineup. Sure, one extra body isn’t going to turn your squad into an unstoppable sky-pirate death machine, but it’s perfect for a little conversion work.
Unless, of course, you live somewhere that makes you build it in store, then you’ll be doing some creative clipping and tinkering at home. Either way, it’s a great excuse to try out new paint schemes without risking your shiny new squad.
And let’s be honest, free minis are never really a bad thing. Especially when the set’s already sold out on GW’s site, snagging one now feels a little better.
GW’s Citadel Collectible Coin Promo For September
We think the collectible Hysh coin arrives on the same day as the mini, to carry the light of Hysh to the dark corners (the AI-slop written Warhammer community article was a little vague…)
They both will only be available while supplies last, which means you might be able to get a coin and the free mini on an all-in-one trip, depending on when you go.
Either way, if you ask the store and it’s in stock, the coin should be yours when you spend $100 or more, no matter how you slice it.

Games Workshop has also added a 40k Infernus miniature to the free lineup for Warhammer 40k 10th Edition if you bring a friend with you to a corporate store!
