The first wave of Kin includes Ûthar the Destined – who you can also build as a Kâhl – a formidable Einhyr Champion, three nippy Hernkyn Pioneers, and 20 Hearthkyn Warriors who can be taken as two squads of 10 to fill out a Patrol Detachment.
It’s the first place to acquire the 104-page Codex: Leagues of Votann – with an exclusive cover no less – alongside a pack of 50 datacards and two transfer sheets filled with the symbols and logos of the major Leagues. Everything in this set will be available separately later – except that exclusive codex cover.
Let’s start by taking a look at the value inside the box. If you want to hear Rob’s thoughts on the current arbitrage situation, check out the video above; if you aren’t too worried about that, you can skip till about the 10-minute mark for mini-making fun.

Is The Leagues of Votann Army Box Worth it?
Now that we know the retail price is $200, this box has a large amount of estimated value. Just like the Army Boxes in the past, you’ll basically get the codex, a unit of Warriors, and cards for free-ish (in GW money), which along with the savings, is a huge value for players looking to start the army!
If you want to play the faction, this box will for sure save you some cash. Plus, you’ll get some of the minis early, a decent starting force, and the codex before its release.
Just a big thing to note here, obviously, we don’t know the final pricing of the individual units inside, so it could be more or less depending on when they release from Games Workshop come out on their own.

It comes with a slipcover and then the actual box underneath.
This insert protects the contents and makes for a really cool poster if you frame it!
Underneath the insert is a molded plastic tray that holds the book, cards, bases, judgment tokens, and more.
Instructions
These new warrior models have a lot of options, and trust us, they really do have a lot of parts for each guy. They seem pretty easy overall with a lot of left and right options.
Rob recommends using the Tamiya Extra Thin Cement for these as it helps fill gaps, and with how many small parts they have, it could be really helpful. Since the Warriors do have a ton of options, so be sure to really follow the instructions and dry fit the parts when building them.
For the Pioneers Jetbikes, the guns actually lock into the handles, so it might be really hard to magnetize. Considering how they lock in, it looks like you might be unable to, unfortunately. Perhaps slicing the barrel off and then magnetizing those would be a good alternative.
Sprues
There are a ton of bits on this sprue! Each miniature has multiple options, which is cool, but from the looks of it, you really won’t have a ton of bits left over.
The character sprues are pretty straightforward but do have a decent number of head options.
The Pioneers have three sprues, but they aren’t identical, so be sure to pay attention and know which one you’re building!
Built Minis
They are a little bigger than they appear, but when compared to a Primaris, they still look pretty short! The barrels aren’t drilled out, but there isn’t much flash to trim, which is nice.
The closed visors are interesting, but you can go with all bare heads if you want.
For magnetizing, Rob dropped a 1/8 x 1/16 magnet from the Magnet Baron (click here to get yours for 10% off) and a 1/16 x 1/32 in the hand slots as each heavy weapons dude can hold two different weapons.
Then for the champion like above, you can just do it in the normal shoulder slots. Some of the arms even come pre-drilled out for the most part, which is really nice!
We actually made every option for the squad leader!
The characters are actually on 40mm bases and just look amazing!
He’s almost as big as a Primaris, so the army has a good range of sizes.
The bikes are cool, and it’s nice that they don’t have flying stands, as they are just a hassle for everyone! Unfortunately, you can’t really do much for magnetizing because of how they made the top gun. So, you just have to build it and leave it that way…
However, you could get an extra set of arms and magnetize them to the shoulders. Or conversely, you could perhaps slice the barrels off and magnetize those to the top gun mount in front of the view screen!
