GW accidentally leaked the new Warhammer 40k Captain Ferren Areios model, the new Black Library mini from the Dawn of Fire series. Here’s the latest.
Games Workshop might need to double-check its scheduling calendar, because the German Warhammer Instagram page just let slip a brand-new Space Marine captain model ahead of time.
And no, it’s not another lieutenant this round, it’s Company Captain Ferren Areios, Ultramarines hero of the Dawn of Fire series.

Who Is Ferren Areios, Master of Rites?

Areios is the Master of Rights, a title tied tightly to the lore coming from Black Library’s Dawn of Fire novels. Originally a promising Primaris shipped out by Belisarius Cawl, he caught Roboute Guilliman’s attention and climbed through the ranks.
After serving as a lieutenant alongside the White Consuls, he eventually rose to command the Ultramarines’ 6th Company. His story continues in the upcoming Master of Rights novel, which we know will be dropping the same time as the miniature.
Warhammer 40k Captain Ferren Areios: Model Details
The miniature itself is classic Captain material. He’s rocking the tactical rock stance, hammer in hand, pointing defiantly at the enemy. A servo skull with Ultramarine markings floats at his side, no doubt tied to his duties as Master of Rights.
His armor is dripping with Ultramarine icons, though hobbyists will spot opportunities to convert him into a generic Primaris captain with a bit of creativity. Like most modern character kits, a helmeted or bare-headed option has been confirmed with GW’s official reveal.
Expect this limited Black Library release to sell out quickly. Games Workshop usually does one production run for these character tie-ins. While Uriel Ventris managed to stay in the semi-permanent Space Marine range, it’s a safe bet Ferren Areios will be a one-and-done.
Ferren Areios Pricing and Playability
If past releases are anything to go by, the model will probably sit around £26/$42, in line with other GW character kits. While his rules may only appear in Legends, his thunder hammer loadout makes him an easy stand-in for a power fist captain.
Ultramarines players get another shiny hero, while Chaos and Xenos fans get another reason to roll their eyes.
