Is it Worth It?

Compared to a normal Combat Patrol for 40k, this is on the higher end of value! If you’re playing Solar Auxilia, you’re going to need everything in this box pretty much no matter what.

Whether you’re just getting into the game, or have tons of units, this box basically gets you the Leman Russ for free, and who says no to free tanks? Plus, if you scored the Solar Auxilia Army Box, the combo will get you a solid army to bring to the table.

How Many Points Is This?

Well, if you’re wondering about the Solar Auxilia Combat Force points? In games of Horus Heresy, this box is around 500 points (can change a lot depending on how much you upgrade and equip your units).

What to Buy Next?

Solar Auxilia – Dracosan Armoured TransportYou get 20 Solar Auxiliaries for your backbone, a Tactical Command Section to keep them fighting in formation, and a pair of Hermes Sentinels to harass or grab objectives. Rounding it out is a Leman Russ, because no respectable Solar Auxilia force goes to war without at least one of these iconic tanks.

If you add another Solar Auxilia set or sprinkle in some Dracosans for transport, you’ll suddenly have a force that can hold the line and punch back hard.

Down the road, you’ll still want to look at adding more armor or artillery support, because if there’s one thing Solar Auxilia excel at, it’s drowning the battlefield in disciplined firepower backed by big guns.

While this box won’t give you a full-size army on its own, it’s a fantastic start that sits at a healthy points level and gets you ready for smaller clashes. Think of it as the perfect launchpad into building a proper, tank-heavy Solar Auxilia battle group.

Final Thoughts From Us

Hermes Sentinel

So, is the Solar Auxilia Combat Force worth snagging? If you like disciplined infantry, nimble walkers, and a free Leman Russ hiding in the savings, the answer is a pretty easy yes. It’s not a full army in one box, but it sets you up with the backbone of a force that can grow into something seriously nasty once you add more armor and transports.

We think for new players, it’s a rock-solid entry into Horus Heresy. For veterans, it’s a cost-effective way to bulk out your lines and pad your motor pool. Either way, it’s a box that screams “form ranks, fire volleys, and roll out the tanks.”

So this is basically the same as the Battle Group that was released last edition. Minus the transport and swapped the heavy sentinel for two light sentinels. For the same cost. Seems they stopped selling the old battle groups and squad boxes to make these new Combat Forces.
